Some bands play heavy metal. Some bands are heavy metal. Enter Slovenian powerhouse Skyeye, the best example of category two one could wish for. With their third record “New Horizons”, the sworn brotherhood is officially and successfully applying for the role of heavy metal’s latest and most courageous defenders of the faith, a force of steel that was simmering ever since it started out back in 2014.
The new album is out now worldwide via Reaper Entertainment.
The band states: “The new album is a pinnacle of what we’ve established as a band in the past 10 years regarding songwriting and performance wise. Every song on an album is its own world and it carries its own story. To be completely honest, there were some hard times during the making and recording of the “New Horizons” album, because of the Covid pandemic and restrictions and because our guitarist and founding member Grega Stalowsky was on his way to leave the band because of his family obligations. But we stepped together, our producer Grega Smola Crnkovič helped us a lot and we made the best album to date. As the saying goes: the pearl is born from the pain and so SkyEye is complete again as we welcome young heavy metal warrior Urban Železnik (his surname literally translates to Iron Man:) as a new guitarist from 2024 on. Onward to the “New Horizons”.”
To celebrate the day, the band just released a new music video for the title track of the new album.
The video can be seen here: https://youtu.be/8SNUAouO1y4
The band states about the song: “The “New Horizons” is the forth single and the title song of our new album. This epic and anthemic song is partly autobiographical, because the band went through some internal changes and some hard times caused by the covid pandemic measures. But we managed to overcome it and we were able to find and reach the “New Horizons”. On the other hand, the song is deeply connected to the title song from our debut album Digital God and the title song from Soldiers of Light album. If the song Digital God was a warning against the downfall of the human race, a warning of how humanity’s vanity, greed and unrestrained abuse of technology is inadvertently creating an entity that is greater and more powerful than its creator, the Soldiers of Light torch has enlightened and led us the way from ”digital cave/prison” on to the search of a “New Horizons”, that offers a glimpse of hope in a time, when AI and digital entities have already entered our lives through the front door. We must open the windows, because the true beauty lies behind the digital walls.”
