Prophecy Fest welcome three outstanding acts to the 2024 billing: Paradise Lost, Fen, and Arð! It is somewhat of a coincidence that all newly announced bands hail from England, but on the other hand it is not, as insular doom pioneers Paradise Lost have wielded a mighty influence not only on the British scene but also on the development and the artistic course that Prophecy Productions have taken.
Prophecy Fest will bring dark, forward thinking music with an attitude to one of the world’s most fascinating cultural locations again, the legendary, natural Cave of Balve (“Balver Höhle”). The three day event will begin on Thursday, September 5 and it will conclude with a final concert starting before midnight of Saturday, September 7.
Prophecy Fest comment: “It is obvious that Paradise Lost had a massive influence on the scene in the early nineties and beyond that they have also affected the direction and roster of Prophecy Productions”, the fest’s founder Martin Koller explains. “The more we are thrilled to welcome these musical innovators as our guests of honour to the Calve of Balve for their first time. By a nice coincidence, we can also announce their English compatriots Fen and Arð. Both bands have also created unique styles of dark metal music. Coming up with an exciting billing is always a giant puzzle but the pieces are finally starting to fall into place. Please watch this space for more announcements coming soon.”
These acts have already been confirmed, with many more to be added in due time (in alphabetical order): Arthur Brown, Arð, Dool, Empyrium, Fen, In The Woods…, Paradise Lost, and Perchta.

Prophecy Fest was founded in 2015 and already sold out at the first edition. This singular event for dark and innovative music takes place in the Balver Kulturhöhle (“Balve culture cave”) in the Hönnetal (“Valley of Hönne”) near the town of Balve in the Sauerland region of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The naturally formed karst cave has been used by humans since the early stone age (palaeolithic). This important archaeological site has yielded remains from many periods through the ages until medieval times. According to Germanic legend transmitted through the old Icelandic Thidreksaga, the mythical blacksmith Wayland came to this cave to learn his magical craft from the dwarven masters that were dwelling there.
The gravity of its history and the special acoustics of the Balver Cave provide a unique atmosphere that perfectly echoes the musical spirit of Prophecy Fest.
